There is something magical about summer at Codimonk Nursery School. Our days are filled with sunshine, laughter, discovery, and plenty of opportunities for children to learn through play. While summer may feel like a break from school, it is actually a wonderful time for children to continue building important social, emotional, and academic skills in a relaxed and joyful environment.
This summer, our students have been busy exploring exciting monthly themes, creating colorful art projects, and enjoying plenty of outdoor adventures. Whether we are hunting for bugs in the playground, creating nature-inspired masterpieces, or engaging in imaginative dramatic play, every activity is designed to spark curiosity and encourage creativity.
One of our favorite parts of summer is the opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences. Children have been experimenting with sensory activities, building challenges, and science explorations that encourage them to ask questions and think critically. These experiences help build confidence while fostering a lifelong love of learning.
Summer also provides valuable opportunities for children to strengthen friendships and practice important social skills. Through cooperative games, group activities, and shared experiences, children learn how to communicate, collaborate, and solve problems together.
At Codimonk Nursery School, we believe that some of the best learning happens when children are engaged, happy, and having fun. Our summer program combines the excitement of summer camp with the nurturing environment and educational foundation of preschool.
As we continue our summer adventures, we look forward to making many more memories with our students. Thank you to our wonderful families for sharing your children with us and allowing us to be part of their summer journey.

Summer should be filled with sunshine, laughter, and discovery — especially for young children.

Our Westport summer preschool program is thoughtfully designed for children ages 2.9–6 and blends structured learning with hands-on summer fun.

  • Build independence
  • Develop routine and confidence
  • Transition smoothly into preschool or kindergarten
Rather than “starting over” in September, children who attend summer preschool arrive ready and comfortable.

Each week includes:

Choosing the Right Preschool in Southeast Massachusetts: A Parent’s Guide

If you're searching for a preschool in Southeast Massachusetts, you're not alone. Finding the right early childhood program is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your child’s development — and for your family’s daily routine. Whether you live in Westport, Dartmouth, Fall River, Tiverton, Little Compton, or nearby, here’s what to look for when choosing the best preschool program for your child.

Picture
1. A strong early childhood curriculum. The best preschools focus on the whole child — socially, emotionally, and academically.
Look for a program that includes:
  • Play-based learning
  • Early literacy and math foundations
  • Social skill development
  • Hands-on exploration
  • Outdoor learning and movement
At this age (2.9–6 years old), children learn best through structured play and meaningful interaction — not worksheets.

2. Full-day and extended hour options. Many families need more than a traditional half-day schedule. If you’re working full time or commuting, full-day preschool hours can make a significant difference.
When comparing preschool programs ask:
  • What are the daily hours?
  • Are extended hours available?
  • Is tuition weekly or monthly?
  • Is there a summer program option?
Convenience matters — but quality should always come first.

3. A safe, engaging learning environment. When touring a preschool near you, notice:
  • Are children actively engaged?
  • Do teachers interact warmly and respectfully?
  • Is the classroom organized but inviting?
  • Is outdoor play included daily?
A high-quality preschool should feel welcoming, structured, and joyful.

4. Summer programs. Many families look for summer options to maintain routine and learning continuity.
A strong summer preschool program should include:
  • Outdoor play and water activities
  • Themed learning weeks
  • Social development opportunities
  • Flexible weekly registration
If you’re planning ahead, ask about summer enrollment early — programs often fill quickly.

5. Reviews and community reputation. When searching for “best preschool in Westport, MA,” reviews matter.
Look for:
  • Consistent positive feedback
  • Comments about teacher communication
  • Notes about children feeling safe and happy
  • Long-term family relationships
Word of mouth is powerful in a close-knit community.

Why Families Choose a Local Preschool in Westport? Choosing a preschool close to home means:
  • Shorter commutes
  • Easier drop-off and pick-up
  • Stronger community connections
  • Friendships that often continue into elementary school
For families in Westport, Dartmouth, Fall River, Tiverton, and Little Compton, a local preschool provides both convenience and a sense of belonging.

Now Enrolling for Fall Preschool in Westport, MA. If you are currently searching for a preschool near Westport, now is the time to schedule a tour. Enrollment for fall programs typically fills early, especially for full-day schedules.

We welcome children ages 2.9–6 years old and offer:
